Morning Prayer Late Spring

Updated: Jun 19

As I look out on the day

My soul is dry as bones

I never thought it'd end this way

With nothing but my phone

Alas I sit here in the dark

I wonder if it's true?

He said just sit with Me right now

And watch the morning dew

Form on the blades of grass out there

By picture window sit

Soon sun will illuminate

The beads of water lighting it

Just get the right angle on

The porch, while waiting for sun

To break from east and warm the earth

I get it this is fun

This world's alive and I just need

A quiet place to call my own

Right now I have a mansion sure

But oh, that pesky phone

After I get all soft and gooey

From nature's dazzling, gentle show

That phone will ring or ding or beep

Okay, my queue to go

Forth into day and brave the world

Harsh at times for sure

I hope that when the evening comes

I'll have a home to return

More quiet time with Him my Friend

Oh don't forget He's The Master.

Of all that is and ever was

I am just his jester.

Alas proud warriors, yes they exist

I wanted to be one too

But in this world, I failed to meet

The standards of His Crew

And yet He didn't forget about me

He found a funny place

Where I can sit and offer my

Perspective on the human race

Rat race? Think not. For sure we are

His special Flock of sheep,

When one strays alerts go out

To find the one that strayed and weeps

Sure that little lamb was lost

It'll roar some day

Just stay with them and learn to give

Your service too some way

Proud warriors,, I thank you folks

I've never been one, or have I?

Just check the facts, it's all laid bare

In everybody's life

The church, The Church it marches forth

In time Brave Pilgrims lead the way

Don't waste another moment King

Remember it's my prayer.

That for today I work Your Work

Until my old dry bones

Can come home spent, and final-ly

Turn off that damn-ed phone!
